Bryan Memorial Gallery provides opportunities throughout the year for its members to participate in exhibits and juries for exhibits. The opportunities vary from year to year, so be sure to read the specifications for each call to artists carefully.

Call to Artists Specifications

Ebb and Flow: May 2 - June 23, 2019

Ebb & Flow A member juried exhibit with a focus on water.

Works in all media (paintings, photographs, sculpture, drawings, etc.,) featuring and/or including the image of WATER or bodies of water. Lakes, rivers, streams, waterfalls, waves, rain, mist, clouds, swimming, paddling - water in all it's various forms are eligible.  The jury will be looking for works in which water is the predominant element of the composition.

Entry Specs:

Artists may submit a maximum of three works of art for this show, not previously shown at Bryan Gallery or in Lamoille County, VT.  All entries must be presented through the gallery’s on line submissions process 

Artwork must be suitably framed, with hanging cable installed on the backs of the paintings.  Unframed, “gallery wrapped” canvases, with the edges painted, are acceptable.  If appropriate, sculpture and ceramics must have their own display pedestals (beyond tables available at the gallery.)  There is no limit on size. However, please make arrangements with the Gallery in advance if you plan to deliver artwork that is especially large or fragile.

Artists must attach tags provided to the back of the work, including NAME, TITLE OF PAINTING, IMAGE DIMENSIONS (HEIGHT X WIDTH, EXCLUDING MAT AND FRAME,) MEDIUM AND PRICE.  Tags can be downloaded from  Please have your artwork labeled in advance of bringing it into the gallery. 


All media will be considered by the jury.

Online submittal and any fees must be received by Bryan Memorial Gallery on or before this date. Or, if mailing your entry, Jurying Package – including CD with jpegs, fees and other materials – must be received by Bryan Memorial Gallery on or before this date.

Sunday March 31

Post cards will be put in the mail to all artists submitting applications, informing them of the jurors’ final decision on what works will and will not be included in this exhibition.

Friday, April 19

All artwork for this show must be shipped or delivered to Bryan Gallery, PO Box 340, 180 Main St, Jeffersonville, VT 05464

Subject Matter / Media:

All media is eligible for most exhibitions with the exception of giclee prints. No limits other than size. The show subject matter will be listed under the title on the specifications page for each show. Media specific limitations will also be listed under each shows specfications which can be seen by clicking on the show title.


All current Bryan Gallery Artist Members are invited to submit works. All artists are eligible to submit an application to any exhibition on our call to artists page. If your work is accepted by the jury, you must be or become a member of Bryan Memorial Gallery to have your work exhibited

If you are not a current member, or you have not renewed your membership in the last 12 months, you may do so »on line here, in person or through the mail. An artist membership is $40.

All paintings must be available for sale, and must not have been exhibited in Lamoille County, Vermont, previously.

How To Enter

There are two ways to enter. The prefered method is to use the online entry form which you can find here: »Online Entry. Follow the instructions on the entry page.

The second method is to print the entry form, and send all information including a disc with images through the mail.

Images of all entries must be uploaded as jpegs, or presented as jpegs on CD (if mailed). Mailed entries must and accompanied by an Official Entry Form or facsimile. Applications should include one jpg image for each of the specified number of entries, of the paintings you would be submitting for the exhibition itself. If mailing your entry, mail completed packet to Bryan Memorial Gallery, PO Box 340, Jeffersonville, VT 05464. Mailed entries should have the images sent on CD and completed entry form.

Jury process:

The jury will review each artist’s entries and select the artists to be included in the exhibition. The jury’s decision will be conclusive.Please include a Jury Card with your mailed submission.

Digital Images:

Professional looking images must be submitted in high resolution jpeg format under 5 MEG. These images will be used for the Gallery’s website and public relations. There are two ways to submit your images. On line by going to or by sending your images and info by mail following these directions:
Image files must be titled as follows: Last Name of Artist_Title of Work, i.e. “Picasso_Mt. Mansfield.”
Please do not use punctuation marks (such as, # $ % ^ & *()+=[]’";,/ {}|:<>?~) in the filename.
If someone besides you is doing your photography work for you, please notify them of how to name your files.
If someone else is making your CD, please notify them how to name the files.
If you want your CD returned, please provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
* Images should be a minimum of 1200 pixels wide in landscape orientation or 1000 pixels tall if in portrait orientation.  Smaller images may be rejected, and/or the quality of the images displayed on the website may be poor due to the display size being larger than the submitted image.

Insurance & Liability:

While all due care will be taken with the artist’s work, neither the Bryan Memorial Gallery nor the Bryan Foundation assumes any liability for loss or damage however caused. Artists are encouraged to provide their own insurance on artwork in transit and during the exhibition. Submission of artwork constitutes acceptance of all conditions and terms stated here.

Number of paintings:

See the specific show "Entry Specs" for the number of pieces you may submit. Each artist whose work is juried into this exhibition will be notified as to which pieces to deliver to the gallery. Paintings must be received at the gallery on or before the date listed for that show. The paintings can be delivered in person or shipped to the gallery (at the artist’s expense.)

Receipt Form:

The titles and prices listed on your submission to the jury must not be changed before the exhibit, so please title and price your work carefully on the application. No substitutions will be accepted. Artists must complete and sign an Artwork Receipt Form and make a copy for yourself BEFORE DELIVERING YOUR WORK TO THE GALLERY.


You may submit the number of pieces specified for each show, which have never been shown in Lamoille County previously. Artwork must be suitably framed, with eye hooks and cable on the back. Accepted mediums are lised in the show submission details. Any other limitations are also listed in the show submission details.


Artists must attach TAGS to the back of the work with their Name, Title of Painting, Image Dimensions (height x width; excluding mat & frame), Medium, and Price. Please have your artwork labeled in advance of bringing it into the gallery. TAGS are available at the gallery’s website, here: TAGS.

Sales and Commissions:

All works of art must be for sale. Should your work sell, a commission of 50% of the retail price you have designated, or later approved before sale, will go to support the non-profit Gallery and help defray costs of the exhibition. Please price your paintings realistically, no higher than you’ve been receiving consistently for your work. Pricing is the responsibility of the artist. The gallery does not offer pricing advice.

Selection Process:

The Bryan Gallery ensures that at least one accepted work by each current artist member is on view at all times during the exhibit. Works not displayed in the initial installation will be stored at the Gallery to be available for potential buyers’ viewing, at the gallery’s discretion. (see also: Jury Process above)

Exhibition dates:

Exhibition dates are as specified for each show. Accepted artists must agree to leave their paintings at Bryan Memorial Gallery for the duration of the exhibition. No exceptions.

Return Of Artwork

After the exhibition, any unsold paintings will be returned to you. You may pick them up in person at the gallery, or the gallery will ship the paintings back to you at your own expense, in the packing materials you have provided. Please note the dates for pick up as the gallery has very little storage space. For periods in which the gallery is closed, or during winter hours, note that return of paintings may have to wait until the gallery is next open for a period of days.

These images may be used on our website, print materials and for public relations at gallery discretion. When the gallery is closed, but the office is open, please enter through the side door, and please play it safe by calling first before you arrive 802-644-5100. Sometimes only one staff member is on duty, and if he/she is on an errand, you’ll find the doors locked.
